Battery Backup & Storage.

A home battery is backup power with no engine: silent, instant, and maintenance-light. Paired with solar it banks your own production; standalone it bridges outages without a drop of fuel. We design and install storage that actually carries the loads you care about.

What a battery really buys you

Instant transfer — the clocks don’t blink. Silence — no engine running outside the bedroom window. And with solar, energy independence in both directions: bank the surplus, spend it after dark. The honest limits matter too: batteries carry hours to days depending on load, not weeks. We model your critical loads so you know the real runtime before you buy.

Standalone, or the second half of solar

We install Powerwall-class systems standalone, paired with new solar, or retrofitted onto an existing array. The electrical design — backup gateway, critical-loads panel, generator integration where owners want both — is where storage projects succeed or disappoint, and it’s exactly the work we do best.

Designing a battery system around real loads

The heart of a storage project is the critical-loads design: deciding what the battery carries and for how long. We model your actual circuits — refrigeration, heat circulators, well pump, internet, lights — against battery capacity and give you the honest runtime numbers before you buy. Oversizing wastes thousands; undersizing disappoints at the exact moment the system exists for.

The electrical architecture is where these projects succeed: the backup gateway that islands your home in an outage, the critical-loads panel wired cleanly, and — increasingly — the hybrid design where a battery carries the first silent hours and a generator takes over if the outage stretches to days. That hybrid logic is genuinely the best outage setup we install in deep-winter country.

Batteries at camps and seasonal homes

Storage has quietly transformed camp ownership. A battery plus monitoring keeps the sump, heat tape, and alarm running through outages nobody is present for — and reports what happened. Paired with solar, it makes true off-grid camps livable in a way generators never quite managed: silent mornings, no fuel runs across the lake, power that just exists.

We design seasonal-property systems for the unattended months — conservative loads, remote visibility, and clean shutdown-and-storage procedures for owners who prefer to winterize fully. Either way, the February outage stops being a gamble.

Battery Backup & Storage: questions we hear

How long will a battery run my house?
Depends entirely on load. Essentials — refrigeration, lights, boiler controls, internet — can run a day or more per unit; add electric heat or a well pump running hard and it shrinks fast. We model your actual loads and tell you the real number.
Battery or generator — which should I choose?
Batteries win short outages: instant, silent, fuel-free. Generators win long ones: they run as long as fuel flows. Many the Tri-Lakes area homes end up with the hybrid — battery for the first hours, generator for the third day. We design all three configurations.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar?
Usually yes. Depending on your inverter, it’s either a straightforward AC-coupled retrofit or a modest equipment change. We assess what you have and quote the clean path.
Does a battery work without solar?
Yes — it charges from the grid and discharges during outages (or during peak-rate hours where that math works). Solar makes it better; it doesn’t make it work.
Where does the battery go?
Garage, basement, or exterior wall — units are rated for it, but cold derates performance, so in this climate we prefer conditioned or semi-conditioned space. Placement, clearances, and code are part of our design.
Are there incentives for home batteries?
Storage paired with solar generally qualifies for the federal credit, and state programs come and go. We quote against active programs for the Tri-Lakes area addresses at signing.
