What an upgrade includes

A real load calculation, utility and permit coordination handled for you, a clean same-day panel swap with every circuit labeled, torque-verified terminations, optional whole-home surge protection, and the documentation your insurer and inspector actually want to see.

The day of the swap, hour by hour

A straight panel upgrade is a well-rehearsed day. We arrive early; the utility drops the service on schedule (we've arranged it in advance — municipal departments in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake, NYSEG or National Grid elsewhere, and we know each office's rhythm). The old panel comes out, the new one goes in, and every circuit is landed, torqued to spec, and labeled from actual tracing — not copied from the old door's folklore.

By afternoon the inspector has seen it, the utility reconnects, and the house is back up — usually the same day, with a panel schedule that finally tells the truth. You get the paperwork your insurer wants and a walkthrough of what's new, including the main shutoff every adult in the house should know how to find.

Why panel work is the foundation job

Almost everything interesting you can do to a house electrically routes through the panel: the EV charger, the heat pump conversion, the hot tub, the generator transfer, the addition. Doing the panel right — with real capacity headroom, clean workmanship, and whole-home surge protection while the cover is off — makes every one of those future projects smaller, cheaper, and faster.
