Built to standard, not to whatever reaches

Structured cabling done properly means Category 6 or 6A copper and fiber backbone installed to TIA/EIA standards: home runs to a labeled patch panel, bend radii respected, supports at proper intervals, tested and certified rather than assumed. Telecom rooms laid out so the next person can work in them.

The alternative — cable run point-to-point by whoever needed it that week — is what we spend a lot of time replacing. It works until the building grows, and then every addition compounds the mess.

Wireless that actually covers the building

Wi-Fi problems are almost always cabling problems. Access points need wired backhaul, placed where coverage is needed rather than where a cable happened to end. We design coverage around the building’s construction — and in this region that means masonry, log, plaster, and metal roofing, all of which are hostile to wireless signal.

The same infrastructure carries the rest: cameras, access control, sound, point of sale, and the building automation trunk. Designing it as one system rather than five separate afterthoughts is most of the value.

Cat6 or Cat6A?
Cat6 is fine for most office and retail work today. Cat6A is worth it for longer runs, higher-bandwidth applications, and anywhere you are powering devices over Ethernet at higher wattages — PoE lighting and cameras especially, where cable heating becomes a real consideration.
Do you test and certify the cabling?
Yes, and you get the results. Certified test results are the only proof that a run performs to its category rating, and they are what an IT provider will ask for when something misbehaves later.
Can you work with our IT company?
Routinely. We install and certify the physical layer; they handle the network configuration. Clear division, documented handoff, no finger-pointing when something goes wrong.
We have terrible Wi-Fi in a building in the Tri-Lakes area. Is that a cabling problem?
Almost always, yes. Mesh systems and repeaters are patches; the fix is wired access points placed where the coverage gap is. Older buildings in this region are especially hard on wireless, and the solution is copper.
Do you run cabling in existing occupied buildings?
Constantly. Pathways above ceilings, through walls, and in existing conduit — done in phases, after hours where the space demands it, and cleaned up behind us.
Can you also power the devices?
That is the advantage of a licensed electrical contractor doing the low voltage: the circuits feeding your racks, cameras, and access points are ours too, so the power and the data are designed together rather than bolted to each other.
